28Feb2013 COMING SOON! Our latest video series, Tabs on HABs is currently being uploaded for online viewing, the master is on its way to the DVD replication company, and the iBook is uploaded and awaiting approval from Apple's iBookstore!
26Nov2012 Tabs on HABs (a series of videos for a basic introduction to and identification of Harmful Algal Blooms) is in post-production with 6 of the 11 videos complete. Our three beginner videos (Single-celled Rebels, Basic Sampling Techniques and Power of Observation) and three advanced videos (Scanning Electron Microscopy, Polymerase Chain Reaction, and Environmental Sample Processor) are completed! Our 4 intermediate species identification videos are still being tweaked, but are coming along great.

06Mar2012 Our grant has been accepted and fully funded!!! These next videos will introduce the general public/undergraduate student to Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) species and basic sampling techniques as well as assist researchers and citizen scientists in visually identifying various species of HABs in water samples.
19Feb2012 Phyto Films, in partnership with NOAA NWFSC's SoundToxins program, Port Townsend Marine Science Center, Salish Sea Expeditions and the University of Alaska, has submitted a grant for NOAA's Internal Educational Funding Opportunity to produce harmful phytoplankton identification videos.

25Sep2011: Phyto Films very own Jessica Hendrickson will be presenting a poster on "Marketing Science to the Social Media Savvy" at this year's National Harmful Algal Bloom Conference in Austin, TX, as an advocate of science outreach through film and social media as a vehicle for distribution. Thanks to NOAA for helping fund her conference registration!
